A part of the CAIM mission is to provide specialized training for the technical workforce in New York State. In addition to Columbia offerings in existing graduate and post doctoral degree programs, workers can gain knowledge in CAIM areas of technology from special short courses and seminars. Started in 2005, the initial offering was a short (5 day) Intensive Course in Biomedical Informatics. It was repeated in 2006 and will be a continuously scheduled core course. Short courses in other topics of current interest are planned. (See calendar of events.) In addition, a non-CAIM offering for an executive model Master of Science degree program in Biomedical Informatics has been approved and will be offered for the first time in fall 2006.
