EndoView is a device developed at Columbia for surgeons to learn and perform minimal access surgery. The prototype consists of a fully-insertible pen-sized single-camera platform and a small control box exterior to the body, connected by a long cable. The cable carries power and video to the camera(s), camera control unit, and five motor controllers, and has three serial connectors, one for a joystick controller. The device will make minimal access surgical intervention safer, easier to learn, less costly, and even less invasive than current techniques.
