Each year CAT internal funds are awarded to Columbia faculty members who work with industry partners on R&D problems of interest to the company. The requirements for an award are good science and technology, appropriate budget and timeframe, commitment to measurable and documented economic benefit to the company, and the promise of a successful commercial end product. Benefits to the company start with access to Columbia faculty expertise. Industry co-sponsors benefit from CAT cost sharing, and a significantly reduced indirect cost rate. Grant competitions are usually held in the spring of each year, but projects may be started at anytime. All CAT co-sponsored projects require company matching funds. |
